As per Stabby chat.

Share your suggestions for exploits, cool plays, etc. here! Also, general thread for brainstorming.

Well as was brought up in chat we were wondering if the cave at the beginning of AC1 was really in Jerusalem or on a different map. Perhaps someone with AC on pc and cheat engine could find out (Can you try, Al-Assas?).

Yeah, I went to bed instead. Which was a good idea, considering I was woken up at 8:00 by my niece talking out loud in my parents' bedroom. Tongue

Is this just for AC1 or AC in general?

The whole mysterious death challenge for AC2 contracts was really fun, I thought most were impossible but I somehow managed to think around it.

We need a new challenge. I kinda liked the alternative escapes in AC1 but I never really brought this kind of video style to AC2+, anyone think they could make any stylish escapes on those games?

AC in general. I put in the AC forum, because, well, it's the first game! Tongue
Meh, I don't know about escaping in AC2+. AC2 has a few good mission to do stylish escapes on, but AC:B is mostly just 'instant escape' as far as I can remember. AC:R is the same.

like i mentioned in chat, someone talented enough needs to check if it's possible to back through the wall of debris after Altair tries to kill Robert.
just for fun, check if they are still in there

I might check it out after I'm done with ACR, Rob. Anyway, one thing mentioned in chat was the assassination style "there is no spoon" (or TINS for short Tongue ). The only time it's tagged in a video is when it's used to directly kill a target by making a surface disappear. However it has also been used to help assist in killing a target like in the video Francesco Salviati is Very Persuasive, as well as making characters disappear. What are your guys' thoughts in this?

I consider There Is No ... to be when Ezio gets so far away from an object that the object will no longer be modeled by the game engine. If it's used to kill a target, it's an assassination style.
Otherwise, I consider it to be an exploit, much like hyperblend.

If someone wants something cool to do/that will keep them busy, make a video that shows every combination of bomb ingredients. Shells/gunpowder/effects.

IMPACT SHELL: Explodes on impact
FUSE SHELL: Bounces around then explodes
TRIPWIRE SHELL: Sets off when someone walks into its AoE
STICKY SHELL: Can adhere to people or objects (shlop!) then explodes after 3 seconds.

INDIAN GUNPOWDER: Small area of effect
ARABIC GUNPOWDER: Medium area of effect
BRITISH GUNPOWDER: Large area of effect

SHRAPNEL: Kills people like a grenade (which it pretty much is)
DATURA: Kills people by releasing Poison gas into the Area of Effect
COAL DUST: Doesn't actually kill people even though it's advertised as a Lethal ingredient. Shocks people and knocks them away/far

LAMB'S BLOOD: Splatters blood over people, they think it's their blood, get scared for a second thinking they're injured. Vulnerable to one-shot kills.
PHOSPHORUS: Creates thick smoke. Can be seen through with Eagle Sense. Enemies can't see you. Vulnerable to one-shot kills.
CALTROPS: Spreads tiny spiked caltrops along the ground in the Area of Effect. Enemies are immobilized. Vulnerable to one-shot kills.
SKUNK OIL: Stuns people in the epicenter of the explosion, others further away are repelled completely. Combined with a sticky pouch, is good for isolating targets. Vulnerable to one-shot kills.

SULPHUR: Creates a loud bang, guards are lured to it if they HEAR it.
SALT OF PETRA: Creates a signal of smoke. Guards are lured to it if they SEE it
PYRITE COINS: Spreads gold in an area of effect. Civilians are drawn to it, civilians will also act as Vigilantes (holding guards/enemies in place) if any enemies come into the golded area.

------
If someone wants to make a video showcasing EVERY kind of shell mixed with EVERY kind of bomb, that would be crazy haha. I don't think anyone wants to take the time though. You don't have to use the gunpowder differences, cause gunpowder is just a range modifier. So there's really only two different ingredients you need to use: Shell and Effect.

AKheon has done some preliminary work on area exploits in Solomon's Temple. No major results but it's a start.

I'd like someone try his western trail to Arsuf area exploit except do it in MB6 after assassinating Maria. I'm curious if you can get the Arsuf map to load from this direction as the game designers had originally intended.

Could someone tell me exactly where this picture was taken? The publisher claimed Acre but I don't accept it. The GPS indicates three things:
- Optimus Prime is on a west facing wall
- 72 meters WSW of a Save Citizen
- SSW of and near to the Assassins' Bureau (the Bureau icon disappears from GPS when far away and not selected)
[Answered by sync on Dec 6, 2011]

If the above picture was not taken in Acre, can anyone find an Optimus Prime in that city? There was a video (which I can no longer find) that looked like an Optimus Prime in Acre. This one was also on a west facing wall, 161 meters SSW of the Bureau near a red Roof Garden and an archway over the street.

Here's a challenge for AC2: Flyswatter Extermination. Take your time and eliminate every archer using Leonardo's Flying Machine.

There's potentially another Early Death of Dante Moro that I didn't cover in Nine Lives. It happens on the memory "Nun The Wiser" where Ezio walks to Carnevale with Teodoro and Antonio. At the moment Teodoro (and/or?) Antonio reach their mark in the center of the square, Dante appears onstage for an instant along with other characters for the opening ceremonies cutscene. If Ezio were waiting onstage behind Dante's mark you could equip the hidden blade and mash attack for a quick assassination going into the cutscene, wherein Dante would likely have a bloody shirt.

The problem is that Teodoro/Antonio stop walking whenever Ezio is too far away from them and the stage lies outside of this radius. What I was thinking is to aggravate a guard (to prevent the cutscene from loading) and place Teodoro/Antonio on their mark using Gentle Push or something. Then go stand on your mark onstage and finish the fight. The cutscene should load as soon as the last guard dies. I recommend finishing him with a grab/throw to give yourself enough time to equip the hidden blade for the quick assassination of Dante.

You won't even feel the blade.

I had an idea based on the Linguist video. Some dialogue from the main characters in AC2 not translated are some of Ezio's taunts and whatever Rodrigo's saying in the Sistine Chapel at the end of the game. That would be a nice project. Someone could make the video and someone could translate. And for additional stuff instead of unnecessary censorship like for AC1 I had an idea for character dialogue out of context.

What Rodrigo saying is very dull, standard church Latin. The basic 'in the name of the Father, etc.' is all there is to it, really.

Ok then. Just Ezio's taunts and anything else worth translating. And I hope the "out of context" idea is funny enough.

Also, does anyone have an exact number on the rendering distances of several game objects, like stairs (<150 metres in AC:R). Would be useful for there is no spoon attempts when a distance restriction is in effect.

That sounds like an awesome idea. I never really knew what the Templars and higher rank Sarracens are saying in AC1.
And just to be exact, Rodrigo is reciting the Catholic Creed, or at least the short version.

There are two more :

Spoiler: Highlight to view
When you go up to a book shelf, it triggers Altaïr taking Al Mualim's corpse in his arms ; and when you go up to a pile of books on the ground, you see him talking to Abbas then killing him with the gun.

About the taunts, there are some videos on YT.

The only one I found on AC is this one :

The uploader made some annotations the first 3 mins then stopped. Unfortunately some of them are often off screen, but that's a start.
I don't speak neither arabic nor german but can help out with the french if someone records it.

For Ezio, there are 2 :
Taunting brutes in ACII :

Taunts in ACB :

Here are some of the italian taunts (from my minimal knowledge of the language so they're not perfect), feel free to correct them :
bello in carne, non c'è che dire -> bello=beautiful, carne=meat. I guess it's an ironic way of saying "you're certainly well built, there's no denying"
fatti sotto porco -> bring it on, pig
fatti avanti, testa di ferro -> bring it on, iron head
riesci da sentirmi dalle dentro ? -> can you feel me from under there ? (referring to the brute's heavy helmet)
you're too slow, lardo -> lardo=bacon
hey, grassone -> fatty
qualcosa sapra pesante -> ??
più sono grossi... -> The bigger they are... (he says it in english too)
ci vedi bene con qual secchio in testa ? -> can you see us well with this bucket on your head ?
they send bambini to do a man's work ? -> bambini = children
ha paura ? -> are you afraid ?
che cosa aspetti ? -> what are waiting for ?
non escere timido -> don't be shy
le arme servono a duelare -> arms are for duelling.

Wow, nicely done. Thanks, sync!

Now I know why I couldn't find it. You're nearly 300 meters from the Bureau. Whenever I got that far away the Bureau icon would disappear from the GPS (unless explicitly selected with the user marker) so I limited my search to the vicinity of the Bureau. Your status says "Return to the Bureau Leader" so you must have recorded this after completing your final Investigation in the Middle District, which I see is open for MB6. That would explain why the Bureau icon is emphasized.

Mystery solved. Smile

Last Stabby chat there was talk of some possible videos. Someone said something about "what not to do in a date in Assassins Creed". That's something to discuss here and good luck with that. And after seeing that music video with Ezio and Christina I was thinking there should be one with Altair and Maria (please). If anyone is interested in that Maria appears in AC1, AC2, AC Bloodlines and ACR. She mostly appears in Bloodlines, which is for the psp. I was also thinking there should be some more eagles pranks and unnecessary censorship for AC1, but I'll discuss that next time were in chat.

These ideas are inspirational, the area exploit in Solomon's Temple in AC1 is defiantly worth a try. There must be a way to get around the edge without jumping down onto the ground. Having said this I noticed that Altair can make no progress until he attempts to assassinate Robert de Sable.

I would like to propose a combat style challenge for AC1. Begin with the three main cities, before entering choose only one combat weapon for each city. This can be the hidden blade, short blade or long sword. Or if you want a real challenge try to use the fists only. With no disarm ability in AC1 I am interested if you can either dodge with the fists or use a back eject of a wall run to evade sword attacks. The advantage of fists is that it does not cause an outbreak of panic if you knock a guard onto the deck (thanks to al-assas for documenting that in one of his videos). Using the lock on+lock off target controls maybe the only option, regarding fist fighting. Fists also include all empty hand techniques such as throwing guards at merchant stands, into walls, and grab breaks.

Of course it's advisable to experiment with a low amount of enemies first, so avoid commanders and guard patrols. I think this needs a bit more structure, so feel free to offer up suggestions. I am no good at speed runs or escapes, so I decided this might be a good idea.

I was wondering if we could do some voiceover stuff for it, but I don't know who hear has that "animated" voice. For example, in the scene in AC1 when Altair finds Maria was dressed as Robert, we could use the body language as a "how not to break up" scene or something.

Hey. I tried this out a moment ago, and absolutely nothing happens even at that point in the game.

Just throwing an unrelated idea here before I get to test it: with the newfound bureau glitch entrances, you think it would be possible to progress the storyline without even killing your targets? That is, start the assassination, but then get to the bureau and enter it early.

There's a distance restriction on targets, you can't get away more than 60 metres or so. I don't think it's possible, but it's worth a shot. It'll take like 10 minutes to try out.

I would imagine the first Duccio scene would be good for your idea, but you'd need to do a voice over.

Is this project dropped ? The German/French/Arabic from AC and the Italian from ACII/ACB/ACR would make a great video.
