Okay, I have to admit, the first time I saw these, I was gonna post "OMG IT'S EGYPT!!" but then I read into it a little more and found out it was part of ubi looking for artists to hire. This first picture doesn't have any real context.

But then there was this one that threw me off. It says that it was drawn by JamesNG. "Artists like Craig Mullins, Tavis Coburn, 123Klan, Gabz, James NG and many others were given free rein to draw an Assassin from the period and style of their choices..."

Article based on first drawing.

So, is this even marginally legit? Does it hint at actual projects? Or am I just stupid?

Yes, it's real. They're part of a forthcoming Assassin's Creed artbook.

So is it a teaser for AC3? Or just like a fanart or something?

The quote you gave us explains it for you: "[the artists] were given free rein to draw an Assassin from the period and style of their choices..."

That means the artist is simply drawing what an Assassin would look like. It's basically fan art, but funded by Ubi, I guess.

I believe it's part of Ubisoft's attempt to make Assassin's Creed into a sort of universal multimedia experience. Like Lineage and the Nikolai Orelov comic.

Ah well, they still look cool, especially the first one.
I think Egypt would still be the perfect place for the third game.
Some part of me still wants to think that these are true pictures for AC3...

Yeah same. I really really want an Egypt-themed game, preferably an AC one as it would definitely be good Laughing out loud

Ah, man... I can just imagine now walking through ancient Egypt in Giza and gazing up at the towering, conspiracy-laden pyramids. The dawn of the Assassins! It'd be so cool!

Ah you've made me wish they'd make it even more! I've been to Egypt and even the ruins are really cool so seeing it recreated with an Assassin leaping around the cities would be amazing. Hopefully they make it Glasses

They said that they won't be done with AC after AC3. So that means there will be more games/graphic novels/books. Maybe even films? Smile

OMG that would be awesome. I hope they don't stop making AC games... It's so cool how this franchise got so popular!

I think it's because it can appeal to anyone.

1. Intricate story

2. Stealth and/or Action-oriented gameplay

3. A big honkin' conspiracy

4. (Since AC2) Upgrades

5. Change of pace between past and near-future

6. Stuff I can't remember...

Yeah cool except the dungbeetle in the belt instead of the true assassin symbol. I think the pyramids were enough without changing the look of the Creed's symbol. Every assassin has always had the same one, no need to go overboard there.
