I finally got to sequence 5 yesterday... didn't start any missions, but did kill, like, 15 Beavers. (for those that know my college allegiances, you will know why this was important for me to do).

Funny thing, when I was killing the beavers at the beginning of Seq5 yesterday...
I went with barehanded kills, and I could have sworn he just went with his wrist and I heard the *shink* of the hidden blade.
Also, I had bare hands out and went up to a dog. I hit the wrong button (X instead of B) and accidentally killed it... But I couldn't skin it. Oh well.

The unarmed Assassination thrusts his wrist into a target's weak point if it's below him (if it's much shorter than him, like animals or if he Air Assassinates it.) As for the shing, I can't really say much on that

Unfortunately due to the lack of power, I still don't have my copy of the game (nor have I been able to complete Revelations). I'm staying elsewhere for the moment, but your rankings will all be higher than mine.

You're right.
The *shing* was when Connor used his regular hunting knife for kills. It wasn't there when hitting the back of the head with bare hands.
