100 days to go for those of us in the USA (Oct 30). The rest of the world will have to wait 101...

But, did Ubisoft get something major wrong?

One of the premises for AC3 is that the Assassins have watched over this new land since the time of Columbus. Now that the Templars are too crossing the ocean, the safety of the people and land are threatened.

But I was suspicious when I was driving through New Haven the other day and came across the Knights of Columbus building. I was suspicious because of their flag...

Imagine driving around town, and seeing this out of the corner of your eye:

Scared the crap outta me... thought I was losing it, until I reconfirmed that it was, indeed, the Templar Cross... I was going to start a topic to get Conner here faster... but I did some more looking into it.

Ubi says that the Assassins have guarded over the new world since the time of Columbus... but can this be true if Columbus was a Templar?

(speculation/truth?) There are a few books on the matter... one titled Chistopher Columbus: The Last Templar. I have not read any of them, and have only found speculative research online. Much of it suggests that Columbus's navigators were members of the Knights Templar and KNEW they weren't going to India. They KNEW they were going to a New World to set up camp. Also, it is widely hypothesized that Columbus sailed with Templar money and under Templar flags.

(reality) The Knights Templar was officially disbanded in the 14th century, but in Portugal, where Columbus departed from, they changed their name to Knights of Christ.

(In the AC universe) Columbus had trap meetings with several Templars (one of which was Rodrigo Borgia) under the guise of raising money for the expedition, but Ezio saved him each time.

-----

1 - Is it possible that Ubi got this one wrong in saying the New World was safely in Assassin stewardship? Were the Templar forces here long before the actions of AC3?
2 - Was Columbus a Templar himself?
3 - Was he a friend of the Assassins that simply used Templar presence to jump the pond with a few of his Assassin buddies to make sure the New World didn't immediately fall into Templar hands?

Maybe Ubi knew that Templars and Assassins were already in North America (3 above), but there was no real threat until the actions of AC3.

As is the case with all of my topics... feel free to discuss whatever comes to you, or ignore it completely... I won't be upset either way.

Oh, and it's July 22! Happy Hammock Day!

According to Project Legacy, both Assassins and Templars already had expeditions going to the new continent since the time of the Spanish Conquistadores. And seeing how every time it is the Templars that take the advantage, it certainly seems very likely that they would have the control whether Columbus himself was a Templar or not.

And this isn't really anything significant, but Columbus sailed from the port of Palos de la Frontera, in Spain. Smile

Well maybe Ubi will make some episodic DLC to explain a couple days before the release.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which

Haha.

None of this really matters.

All that matters is that the game will be bad ass and most our questions will be answered in a little over 3 months.

Could have been a guise, and they may not have been connected to the actual templars since they were an offdhoot group. And as to the idea that the new world has been templar-free til conners time, theres nothing in the fiction to back that up. Assassins and templars have both been there from the beginning. We dont know the statw of he war in that region at that time.
