I didn't get AC4 yet (yes, I know it has been 6 months from it's release) and I really want to buy it but I'm not sure if I should buy it now for my PS3, or wait till I get the PS4 (I hope I'll buy it later this year). The reason I'm not buying it now, is cause AC3 on the PS3 wasn't very good, the FPS constantly dropped below 30. And with the improved graphics of AC4, I'm afraid it will be even worse. So the guys that are playing or have played AC4 on the PS3, is it really bad or it's not that noticeable?

AC3's frame drops happened a lot on Xbox as well. The only times I see AC4 have these issues on PS3 is when I'm in the busy sections of the cities when I'm running at full sprint. I don't know if PS4 has these issues, but since it's better hardware that can handle a lot more, I bet it would perform better. I'd look up PS4 city free roaming videos and compare.

Xbox or ps3, that doesn't really matters since they both have pretty much similar hardware. And I'm sure the ps4 doesn't have these issues, since it has much better hardware and it runs games at 60 fps. My question wasn't if the ps4 has those problems, but if the fps on the ps3 was playable.

Then yes, I'd say it is.

PS3 does not have too many framerate DROPS, but its OVERALL frame-rate is NOTICEABLY WORSE than 360 and PS4 - I played AC4 on PS3 and I actually wished I could have played it on something else. I loved every second of it because like, it's Assassin's Creed and AC is basically a drug to me but y'get what I'm saying.

I got AC4 for 360, and I think it's the best running AC game on 360. Framerate is solid, UI like maps and menus load faster than they ever have in the series, and the game looks way more beautiful than I thought it would. All on nearly decade-old hardware.

If you have or are planning to get a PS4, i'd get it for that, but I don't think you'd go wrong if you got one of the last-gen versions, a lot of serious hard work went into them.

the posts a bit guy

Just as an FYI, I had some issues with the PS4 when engaged in combat on ships. There would be some lag when chaining together kill streaks where you'd finish combos on an enemy that had fallen or something like that. I think it's largely due to the fact that there are a) a ton of enemies around (especially on Man O' Wars) and b) your crew is fighting alongside of you and firing pistols, all of which the game needs to process.

But as far as the lagging described above on the Xbox360 and PS3, I didn't experience similar issues.

Slowly, but surely, the job gets done.

Yeah, just get it right now. It's worth playing through no matter what. It's probably the best game in terms of content and how much there is TO DO in the entire series. If you're like me and you love doing lots of little Side Stuff, AC4 has the most Side Stuff. The most of it. Ever.
