I haven't found any thread dedicated to the discussion of MP. So, here it is.

What I really wanted to discuss was the Smoke Bombs. I'm far from an expert in ACR MP. I play pretty much only Wanted. I'm level 42 (I think) and I estimate my mean position is 2nd.

I have the impression that the Smoke Bomb is OverPowered. It is way too versatile and also very powerful. One thing that hints to how OP it is is the amount of people who use it. Almost everyone uses the damn thing. So, based on these impressions of mine, I kinda hope Ubi is gonna nerf the Smoke Bomb.

What do you guys think?

PS: Using the Smoke Bomb is harder than it seems (at least it was to me). And it CAN be countered (though it requires a high degree of specificity, while the Smoke Bomb is ver versatile).

AC3 has surprised me greatly!

Well ways that they're making it less useful is getting rid of button prompts for pursuers, so defensive smoke bombing will be less about reflex and more about observation.

Stunning is also done with the same button as killing.

As for on the offensive side, I don't think it needs a huge nerf, but I can't remember if at the demos we've seen its recharge has been increased or whatever.

I would be fine with smoke bombs staying as they are, I don't think they take away from the game or make it too easy.

I think the ubisoft forums would have more people who actually know about the statistics of the multiplayer so far.

the posts a bit guy

Thanks for the answer. I've played AC3 MP quite a bit. I liked how there is no more button prompt for pursuers, but I still hate the smoke bomb. The thing is still too versatile and powerful, as I see it, at least on Wanted. And now, without Charge or Mute, the Smoke Bomb is harder to replace.

I wish (for a next AC) the Smoke Bombs worked like the Disruption Ability. In this case, we would need a different Ability for direct confrontation, something like Charge or Mute used to be.

AC3 has surprised me greatly!

Mute and Templar Vision have been combined to make the ability Wipe. It has the same animation and it does two things;

1) Silence the use of Abilities in the area (just like Mute, but it will not stop the ability to Stun/Kill)
2) Reveal other players in the area.

Yup. It is still a good counter to the Smoke Bomb, but it doesn't help in direct confrontation (doesn't prevent the guy from killing you).

Now that you can throw Smoke at a distance, Smoke Bomb partially counters Smoke Bomb as well. It's its own mind game.

You could throw in ACR. Wipe is good in manhunt for picking out the defending team and stopping them from smoking you.

I'll be playing some multiplayer tonight and tomorrow morning. Or at least interested in doing so.

If you see me on xbox, send me a message and I'd love to play with (or be trained to play by) anyone here.

Smoke bomb is annoying but the gun is more so. I don't see any votes against that. The hidden gun doesn't give you ANY chance to fight back, whereas smoke bomb does. They even give us perks to lessen the affects of the smoke bomb to make it easier. Use them if you have such a hard time!

I agree... but...

What are the chances they do away with the gun in ACIV:Multiplayer?..

Given that Edward is reported to carry up to six single use pistols... I'd say no chance whatsoever.

Also, sorry for my lack of multiplayer recently. My wireless router is on the fritz and keeps cutting out, so I don't want to risk it going out while playing multiplayer... And before you tell me to hardwire the internet to the xbox, the access point (my home office) is on a different floor than the xbox (in my gaming/entertainment loft).

A true fan of the AC series wouldn't let that stop him. You are the Abbas of the online multiplayer community, congratulations.

Slowly, but surely, the job gets done.

I tried splitting my signal at the source into the apartment (every room is pre-wired and the cable comes in one access box in a closet)... but the signal was split more than Comcast knew (ie, one tv and one internet), and they stopped my service until I undid it.

I don't want a 50 foot wire running up my stairs either.

If that makes me Abbas, so be it. At least it's better than Norris.
