Just saw the actual video a bit ago. Posting some of my favorite parts, with some clearly unbiased journalistic intent.

  • "But a lot of people complain about this, Present Stuff, which is funny because this is what Assassin's Creed is all about. But really, just imagine Assassin's Creed without it and... [starts shaking his head] it's not Assassin's Creed."
  • He reveals that Abstergo in AC2 is underneath the Vatican, and by extension so too is Abstergo from AC1, since they're both the same structure in the same location.
  • "AC1 was a lot more, an intellectual side of Assassin's Creed. AC2 has humor that wasn't really there before, I mean... Altair was... He was SERIOUS, man, he's a monk, a killing machine."
  • "Things you could do in AC3 like killing animals or hunting, were all designed for AC1 but cut. We didn't have time. You were supposed to be in the Kingdom in between the three cities, killing wolves or tigers or whatever, survive, and eventually go to kill your prey."
  • The first person to EVER play AC2 was Alice Desilets, Patrice's little daughter. Cute.

In the Dev's Play for Prince of Persia The Sands of Time, he mentions coming up with the idea of rewinding time in games, which is what lead to the historical aspect of AC.

If they decide to do a Dev's Play for AC1, it would be cool if they told Patrice about the (recently discovered) guard vs guard combat during that. As creative director, he should have known they were planning to have that feature until it got scrapped and could give some more insight.

When I read those quotes, I imagined them in Patrice Desilet's voice. Awesome.
