What real world corporation do you think would make a good Abstergo? I would have to go with Microsoft. They seem to be into everything these days. They have ultimate technological capabilities. They're a financial superpower. Bill Gates is one of the richest men in the world and has enormous influence, both domestically and globally.

In AC3, I have a feeling that Abstergo will be shown to be more of a globally dominant force than we already have seen.

They are, but not publicly. Most people don't even know about Abstergo in AC. They're secretly really big, but they also control every company above a certain size.

In real life a company that would be able to pull of the things that Abstergo pulls off would have to have nearly unlimited funds. The companies that fall into that category are all well known. Also, whoever sits at the top of a company like that is going to be in the public eye due to their success. The only entities that would be able to pull off anything to that magnitude and keep it hidden would be governments, and I'm throwing them out because I can.

Playstation is produced by Sony, who would be a good candidate as a global power.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which

After the "Human CentiPad" episode of South Park, I can see Steve Jobs being at the top of Abstergo. Secretive projects (see episode title above), global influence, etc.

And the public knows about Abstergo, but since it has the ruse of a pharmaceutical company, no one would suspect that they are a secret, centuries-old organization bent on world domination. They're the Walmart of AC...and almost just as evil. O_o

He has no talent. If you listen closely, it's all autotune. Teenage girls think he's cute, so that automatically makes him a star. All those girls are also into Twilight and A Walk to Remember. They should have been aborted. Then maybe we would have actual talent these days.

I tried to like him when he did comedy, thinking he'd end up as a respectable actor like Justin Timberlake, but he's so awkward. He can't do anything right except sing horribly and smile with his hair and skiin care products covering the beast within. Evil

Rupert Murdoch has to be a very high-ranking Templar. News Corp. gets my vote for most Abstergo-like company.

Well, that's terrifyingly misanthropic. You're saying that people have no right to live because you don't agree with their views.

...maybe you're the head of Abstergo.

Now that you mention it, I've been working at YPG for only a couple months, and I keep being taught advanced stuff. They've also implied me working more than the summer since I get things done quickly and efficiently. Shock

There is a DuPont office where I live as well. There are a lot of cities throughout the U.S. with families like that. I grew up in a town/small city where there was a family like that. Kind of turns them into a local mafia rather than a Templar-level corporation.

Responding to gopher's comment from forever ago, technically in real life the approach that the Templars used could work: they pupeteered any nation or power they could get their claws in so that they would be getting their funds from a myriad of benefactors, governments, and companies. Abstergo itself didn't start actually holding the money untill their grip had been established, and in the years since the fall of the assassins, it seems they've been a little more sloppy in their cover-up of how much money and personel that is. Publicly, I'm sure Abstergo isn't even listed as being in the top 5 of profitable companies.

It isn't just as much about being a large money-making company as it is about being a secret society. We can't say for sure that those companies are secret societies or have some hidden agenda (at least to my knowledge). There's actually an old topic on here about conspiracy theories.

I think that the Federal Reserve would be it.

Or, if you trace the 'end' of the Knight Templar Order, both the french King and The Catholic Church owed them money, so what if the KT became the Church? What if Abstergo is just another Head of The Hydra?

Would this then allude to the 'reformation' being the Assassin's helping countries gain spiritual and economic autonomy?

But If Abstergo is apple, was Steve Job's Charisma due to a POE? Was his death an Assassination (poisioning?) covered up?

____________

Still would have thought that Hitler should have been an assassin, it'd explain ww2 far more easily.

(the prisoners were actually Templars, and an entire mis-information campaign (Spear of Destiny POE secretly used to mind-scrub people via broadcast during the Nuremberg trial? Hitler was after the Templars, but the broadcasts changed it to jews to match the Templar/Western propaganda/news. The anti-jew posters were merely elaborate forgeries, and the POE was exhausted /still recharging after it was used on a mass scale)

Okay, I think we have to nominate Twitter, Inc. as RL Abstergo, due to this quote from Dick Costolo, the CEO:

"We can, and have an obligation to, reach every person on the planet. There are still billions of people who aren't yet on Twitter." Emphases mine.
