Watch before you play

33 minute overview of the overarching story to fill in details you may have forgotten.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85A0aE-SXYo

it's telling that 27 minutes of the video are the 5 Desmond games and 6 minutes is everything else (Black Flag, Rogue, Unity, Syndicate, the movie, other comics/info, etc). Ubi hasn't given a shit about their actual series for 5 years. I hope they do this time.

Bayek Croft: Tomb Raider [potential minor spoilers]

I just finished reading Assassin's Creed Origins: Desert Oath over the last three days, so anything in this topic that is a spoiler could be a "background" spoiler for the game. Nothing major, but still.

One thing that we KNOW we can do in this game is play at tomb raider. If you've seen any gameplay (or played it yourself) you know this. You can explore the secrets of the pyramids, and walk close to countless objects within with a "Loot" prompt.

Bayek and Aya -- The Eagle and The Snake

In Assassin's Creed II, under the Auditore Villa there are several statues of legendary Assassins from ages past. One of these statues is of Amunet, a female Egyptian Assassin who killed Cleopatra using a Snake.

In the upcoming Assassin's Creed Origins, Cleopatra is a major character, and at one point in the game the eventually-created Assassin Brotherhood spends some time calling themselves "The Hidden Ones."

Amunet is a female form of Amun.

Amunet and Amun are NOT NAMES. They refer to deities, yes, but they're actually also TITLES, which in Egyptian mean...

Let's solve some hieroglyphics!

"It's not just a setting for us, we take pride in representing things properly in a game form. So there are a lot of references to actual historic stuff. You know, the hieroglyphs, it's not just art on a wall; they actually say stuff. You know that giant mural behind me yesterday when I was doing the conference? There's a meaning there."

Warrior, Hunter or Seer? ACO Skill Tree

Whether you like it or not, RPG-elements are here to stay in Assassin's Creed. This thread is not to debate the merits of such things, only for us to talk about the actual skills and thoughts on how you might play the game.

The overall skill tree seems to be split into 3 main branches corresponding to generic RPG character classes:
1) Master Hunter Branch: West side of the tree; most similar to a Ranger with hints of a Rogue. This branch contains all your Archery skills as well as skills dealing with your pet eagle, Senu. So it includes the Eagle Vision type skills of past AC games. Finally, this branch also includes all the stealth/assassination skills for a Rogue character. This will probably be the most popular branch for those on this forum.
2) Master Warrior Branch: North side of the tree; most similar to a Barbarian or Tank character. This branch contains all the melee powers, kill chains, and adrenaline based skills needed for hand to hand combat.
3) Master Seer Branch: East side of the tree; a nebulous class most similar to the other half of a Rogue with character aspects of Bards (charisma based) and Mages (elemental based). This branch contains the tools a Rogue would need his toolkit, which could be considered the elemental Mage class dealing with fire, smoke and poison. You also find here the economy based persuasion-like skills of a charismatic character: discounts and good availability. Finally, the ability to sit and wait for things to happen.

[6/21/17: above "class" ideas expanded and edited for clarity]

Assassin's Creed Origins

New Assassin's Creed game may be called "Origins"! The game is the rumored "Empire" title set in ancient Egypt. The story explores the very beginnings of the Assassins. It is said to allow the player to control a male and female. Another thing to note: this game would focus less on the story and more on player experiences, something similar to how many play Skyrim. It also stated that there would be naval gameplay.
