It's from a political cartoon drawn by benjamin franklin.

EDIT: Remember when AC2 was announced, and the way they presented it was as the typical renaissance that we get taught about in history class? With the paintings, inventions, and parties? And then the actual game took an accurate and mainly non-biased (seriously though, it's very hard to spin the borgias as being anything other than thugs) look at renaissance society. The promos reflect the way people usually perceive the history, so as not to confuse people, and the game is always more accurate to the actual historical record, rather than the popular thinking.

The actrocities that the Borgia commited are so vast in magnitude and scale that if I listed all of their fiendish acts, this forum site would've probably be extremely laggy.

Some prime examples:
- selling your daughter for political power
- incest *ahem**CesarexLucrezia**ahem*
- raping Caterina Sfortza (why was this cut out from the game - they didn't even mention it)
- murder

I'm sure you're right about the lag lol.

Yes, multiple times.

Vesferatu wrote:

This is only speculation and rumour, though. There's no way to prove it one way or another.

Actually, it's mentioned in the in-game historical files. Rape isn't something that sits well with a lot of people. Even if it's mentioned as a past event from the characters.

Yes. There's actually a story behind that. In one Stabby chat Stab said Ian had found a way to kill a kid in the game. Shortly afterward Ian showed up. Not long after that he asked me what I should call that one exploit. So I put two and two together and said, "So that's how you killed a kid in the game." But anyway he showed that in his video Silvestro Sabbatini - Assassination Variety Pack.

I thought about that, but since some structures disappear after a certain distance (there is no spoon) we are going to have situations where characters are glitched under the map.

It's a theme of the time period. That's what the war was about. And really, at that point it was British chest-pounding. And many other European countries, who sided against the "imperial" brits. At this point, none of the marketing has wavered for a minute from "period recreation", down to glorification of the current america. "Join or Die" was a popular slogan of the times, "Freedom" a popular rallying cry. What possible neutral name for the special editions would capture the themes of the era? It was not a neutral era, not at all. The Crusades are more iffy, since no-one really won that. But a small portion of britain splitting off and beating off the larger british empire? There's only one clear symbol of that conflict, really. That's all I gots ta say bout that.

Cool parts: "And if you’re in a city and you see any group of people in the crowd performing an action like painting a house or cleaning, if you approach slowly Connor will begin mimicking their actions to hide amongst them."

"He can also free run and climb on moving surfaces for the first time, so expect windmills, moving logs and more which allows us to create fresh puzzles and challenges for the player."

"Finally, of course the hidden blades are back and we’ve made some style changes so he can actually spin one of them in his hand and use it as a knife, but it’s the key to silent kills." (One, as in there is another? confirmed?)

"We’ve also added various new mission delivery systems like the Clubs, and allowed players to layer their experience: you can now have more than one active mission at a time, and more than one task on your plate, so people will be more in control of how they play their game."

All of this sounds like they're giving us back the freedom we've been wanting. I'm already excited as hell and even preordered already, but until I see a few gameplay videos, I'll still be VERY slightly cautious about this one.

I'm planning on preordering the Freedom Edition. As I did with the Codex Edition of Brotherhood and the Animus Edition of Revelations, I'm also selling a few copies on eBay to make back the cost of my own copy (plus a little extra Wink).

Yeah the Redcoat Multiplayer Pack is a Preorder bonus on certain preorders of the Freedom Edition, although I've olny actually seen this offer on eBay so more than likely it's a separate code that the seller is providing as an extra.

EDIT: Turns out she is available as a preorder bonus through the German Gamestop site.

That's surprisingly true. Not that we hate our own country so much that we'd just up and leave, but we understand the views of most other countries in the world. A lot of times, I see on BBC (love that channel) their depictions of Americans. Usually this consists of the uneducated Southern hick types that make up only a small amount of our population. Most of the time, they're the ones that ARE the "chest-pounding" kinds of people.

I actually had an "ignorant American" moment my first time playing ACB with Phi. It was also the first time I heard his voice. I forgot he was from the Netherlands and I said something about him being British. I felt like the BBC Americans for a few minutes...

Speaking of which, I was wondering how this new engine would be handled by our "exploit experts" (see what I did thar?) since reports indicate that collision detection and AI would be overhauled for a better experience. It might be more of a challenge to find ways to be as creative.

Here's some more little nuggets of newer info. Apparently, the voice actor for Connor is actually Native American. Woo!

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/03/30/assassins-creed-iii-qa-revolut...

A quote clarifying the control scheme for free running:

"In Assassin’s Creed III, if you hold R1 you’ll free run safely. You’ll stay relatively horizontal, so Connor will run past trees and he’ll only take “safe” jumps. But if you hold X as well, then the run becomes “unsafe” — he’ll try to go vertical, and if he hits the edge of a cliff, he’ll jump. Hopefully it’ll give peoples’ hands some relief, but it’s also a way of telling the game whether you want to take risks or not."

R1 is still freerunning, but R1 + X will make you do whatever you want. If you just hold R1, you'd do normal free running moves. If you go to an edge of a cliff or something, you won't leap off on accident like an idiot. Also, just holding this will keep you from accidentally running up walls in narrow areas or around corners. If you hold it with X, you can climb surfaces and do stunts such as an Eagle Strike.

That's what I understood from the article, at least.

Comments:

Spoiler: Highlight to view

It appears that the HUD has reverted back to the color scheme of the first Animus. The social stealth HUD has been integrated into the map has been adjusted somewhat. Also, there's no health bar or control scheme. Perhaps health will be represented by the glowing blue bar around the map. I even heard that medicine can't be used in combat.

A cover system can be a useful feature to both social stealth and combat as well. I'm looking forward how it will turn out in the game. Also, I'm wondering how many bullets and arrows and Connor truly hold? Ezio held 10 and 25 max each respectively, but the Revolutionary War is a time period where bows are obsolete. Perhaps it will be used for non-lethal assassinations and for hunting.

Finally, it appears that the graphics have had a GIGANTIC upgrade. Now it looks more similar to L.A. Noire and is a much more colorful color scheme.

There is no medicine at all. Regenerating health. Only regens out of combat.

Bows are not obselete in the Revolutionary war. They were far more accurate than guns. Natives used them when riding on horseback because of this. They've stated they're limiting the amount of ammo the player can have, since they want the game to still be about close-combat.

The "more than one active mission at a time" feature sounds highly exploitable. Remember Aurel's exploits of starting a primary mission while still having an active Save Citizen (AC1) or Herald Bribe (AC2) mission in progress? I expect even more opportunities in AC3 since they're encouraging you to multitask missions.

You won't even feel the blade.
