Surprisingly, im sure u know, but a few dozen people on youtube actaully make a living from videos. Its there FULL TIME JOB. Payed to game? I love it. Thats the only reason i would buy an HD capture card. But i never expect to make a living from playing video games, as of now, like u said, a hobby

Yeah i tried to get advertisements but they said I had copyright problems because I was uploading footage from a video game and not my own work...

Anyway I think my channel must be getting some attention from youtube because i got a message a while ago saying I can upload videos longer than 15 minutes long, anyone else get this or is it just me?

I got this about a week ago. That Romulus lair glyph really shot up my view count. Party

According to the official YouTube blog, "Starting today [December 9, 2010], we’ll begin allowing selected users with a history of complying with the YouTube Community Guidelines and our copyright rules to upload videos that are longer than 15 minutes."

Apparently I'm not one of the "selected users". It says my account is in good standing with respect to both Community Guidelines and Copyright. This is surprising since my videos sometimes get muted or banned in certain countries (usually just Germany) for containing copyrighted music. They've recently muted Airwalk to Assassinate and un-muted Eleven Man Blitz 1.0. Yay - The Ramones!

@Jack

My other account (Mariuxxia, if any1 is interested. This is where i first started uploading game videos) has a decent number of views. But i uploaded game footage as well and so i cannot get partnership. What confuses me is ALOT of people have partnership BECAUSE they upload game footage

YouTube keeps offering to revenue share my most popular videos. I've never accepted because of the game footage. One of the first questions they ask is, "Does your video contain any... video game or software visuals?" If it does then you need to obtain worldwide distribution rights.

Can you give an example or two? Maybe we can ask them how they got through the legal requirements.

When I played MGO I knew a guy on the forums who got a few cents every x views thanks to adds in his video game vids. He had no other videos, they were all gaming, and I dont think he obtained these rights you talk about. Idk, il just send an application every 3rd month and see what happens.

@stabguy

there are a lot. they're call of duty players though, as that seems to be a growing industry in youtube (lol) heres links to their channels. Don't get your hopes up about getting in contact with them though...people like that get spammed alot everyday and hardly ever reply to messages.

Oh, I see. These channels have something in common: continuous commentary. YouTube's partner help article on video game content says, "Use of video game or software user interface must be minimal, or the associated commentary must provide instructional or educational value." That must be how they're getting around the requirement to have a license from the game publisher.

So brace yourselves for the sound of my nerdy voice droning on and on. Cash Actually, this may work out well for Reacher if he starts narrating his videos.

Speaking of which, are you going to audioswap another song onto that video? Just so that there's something to listen to. (curse youtube, curse youtube) Oups

Nah. AudioSwap only lets you choose one of their lame public domain songs. They should give you an opportunity to create a copyright free soundtrack and upload that onto your video (without deleting the original and uploading it again). In the case of Eleven Man Blitz 1.0, they eventually brought back the original soundtrack so I'm glad it was never AudioSwapped.

What I usually do with overly censored videos is to host local copies here on THB. I may remaster Airwalk to Assassinate to a different song.

I guess it's finally clear why Player points were used in place of RANKED points, RANKED are for the Templar chart while PLAYER is for clan points... =0
