So....what kind of weapon do you use?

I don't know if i prefer the Dagger of Brutus or the Altair's Sword.

And you?

I prefer the dagger of Brutus as the kill streak moves are way cooler and faster Smile

Fair enough but this thread has been created twice. It must have messed up when you created it and there's two copies of it for some reason. I recommend you delete one of them Smile

Sadly, the hidden blade is the only useful one due to the number of seekers, brutes and papal guards. Against those archetypes, other weapons just get Ezio hurt.

The hidden blade counter timing window is also so wide now that you just can't go wrong with them. They slaughter everyone but the final 'boss'.

For low-level enemies, I enjoy the short blade the most for the speed and kill animations. I wish there was a better system in place for dealing with seekers and brutes, or have it where certain enemies are only vulnerable to certain weapon types and make the switching faster and smoother (switching mid-combat is quite lousy in Brotherhood).

I'm pretty sure you get it by completing all Assassin Guild Challenges.

I like to use regular Swords, due to the fact that I can chain Gun executions, draw it while I'm on a horse, AND use it to stop horse charges (you can do that with any sword though). I just use it for its versatility.

I like Heavy weapons most - you can counter Seekers with them, and there is literally no more satisfying way to take out a crossbowman than by knocking them off the building with a sword [getting it back is sometimes a pain]. The spear, when you can get your hands on it, is great as well. Certainly better taking a horse down with that than the normal sword.

Am I the only one that uses the crossbow as a melee weapon? You guys disappoint me, it's easily the best one...

One thing that really pisses me off about ACB is that they took out quickstepping which makes everything so much more difficult. It's going to make Eagle's Bruise impossible...

You can still quickstep, just tap 2 times the Left joystick to the direction you want to quickstep. =]

I have done it accidentally. In a few weeks once I get level 50 and 100% synch, I might do the minimal kill comp, since no one will be interested in AC2 and from where I left off there isnt much challenge thanks to poison punch. I wonder if your assassins will count as kills?

Using Poison Darts basically makes it a lot easier as well.
I could probably go through the whole game using no other ranged weapon than poison darts..

What system do you play on, Jack? For 360, it's easy to backup your saves via any USB storage device. Great for re-collecting flags and whatnot. If PS3, is the save locked like it was for AC2?

I play on PS3, I dont know about the saves yet. I decided to do the walkthrough after I had explored most of them and collected the stuff

I saw this and signed up to the forums just to tell you this since I like your style of fist fighting through all the AC games.

You can still quickstep. Double tap in the direction you want to quickstep. Eg to quick step left around the opponent, tap "left left". Away would be double tap away from the enemy, ditto for towards.

Another thing you might want to know is that kick->punch->kick->punch will often lead straight into the punch finisher.

And Kick>Attack>Kick>Attack always leads to a finisher, with any weapon. So if there's a single, tough enemy that you want to fight, (not sure if killstreaks work like that), you can use that to finish them off. Also works great for bosses.

It doesn't always work. sometimes when they are "flailing wildly" you actually want to hit them again with another attack to initiate a kill. In that situation you end up with an infinite chain of kick attack etc.
But if the kick makes them bend over their belly it will definitely lead to the kill.

It's great with papal guards.

Thanks morninglord for clarifying.
But yeah, essentially, if they bend over, and on the fourth hit, generally it's a surefire kill.
