I lost ALL of my savegames for Assassin's Creed, except one: Garnier. And that's already on the harddrive of my Xbox. >.>
Here's a tip: never use a duplicate remover program.

Shit. Replaying, starting now. (Even though I'm in the middle of my exams.)

Ouch, that has got to hurt. I genuinely feel bad for you Puzzled

I lost every piece of data for every game (ALL gamesaves and trophies) when my PS3 broke last year. Replaying to get the ACII Platinum back was an absolute bitch but I felt compelled to do it.

What exams do you have? I've got AS Levels (English exams, not sure if you're American?) Either way, I know Assassin's Creed is very important but make sure you pass you're exams too! Glasses

I'm Dutch. I've replayed up until Tamir now. I think that I'll use a different method for savegames now. Problem currently is that a savegame takes up half a gigabyte on my computer (I'm on a Mac, so Xport isn't available to me and CrossOver won't run USB drives >.<). I'll figure out a way, though.

Oh cool Smile

Ah, not bad. Now you just need to find a way to save him so you can carry on! I was going to suggest USB but that looks out Puzzled

I'm going with my old solution: mirroring the disk images on my computer. That means that it'll take up a lot of space, but that's what a 1TB Harddrive is for, right?

And Lisa, thanks!

With 1TB I don't think you need to worry too much about lack of space. Situations like this make huge storage space useful!

Well good luck with working your way through the game again, and I'm glad you've found a (hopefully) more stable and safe way of saving your precious saves Laughing out loud

It wasn't an unsafe way, but I just ran a program that deleted duplicate files. I'm never doing that again, I lost half of my music collection as well as these saves. However, now I think about it, I did have only the 74 KB files left. Maybe those contain the actual savefile and the rest I can just pull together from the same file?
Ah, whatever, I love this game and playing through it is great. Feels kind of speedrunny (is that a word?), but then with everything, like Save Citizens and Viewpoints. Tongue

Oh, true true. Don't think I actually registered how you lost the files from your original post Tongue

Duplicate remover programs are great but can also be deadly to your most precious files. I remember running one a few months back and finding over 20GB of duplicate files on my computer! My sister backed up all of her files when creating a new account including thousands of photos and some videos, some of them having 3 copies on the computer. I daren't just delete all duplicates automatically as I could end up losing her files (something I've done in the past already) but nor could I be bothered to go through manually. I gave up after 5 minutes Tongue

I know exactly what you mean with the 'speedrunny' thing. I felt like that when I played ACII again. At various points I could remember what mission was coming up next and would rush to complete each part, knowing exactly what to do. It was brilliant to experience the story again; I understood it more and could appreciate it without desynchronising a lot. I knew what to do for each trophy as well which was great Laughing out loud

Stupid AC2 with it's no memory reliving crap. why would they REMOVE that feature?

Maybe I should change my avatar. Leonardo's got a sassy, abrasive, insufferable know-it-all look on his face. owaitthatdescribesmeperfectly

I also lost my save games when my PS3 got YLOD. I just got it back and im replaying AC1 as well. What im trying to do is a huge mental task, to get through each target without getting seen at all. The thing is I know exactly what to do yet I still make human mistakes, or get greedy for a stylish kill.

Basically from the moment Al Mualim sends you away, with the HUD turned off I have to find all 6 investigations and not get seen in the kingdom or the city ever. By seen I mean alerted by the city guard.

For save citizens I make an exception, I only kill the the guards who attack the citizen. Should other random guards join in, I must flee the fight somehow using a predetermined escape route.

Collecting flags is really challenging in the kingdom, and its also generally fun searching for them without an internet guide. If you use a map from a guide, you are really just running from point to point and it feels like a chore.

I'm doing the except opposite, actually. I'm just blasting through everything. Since I want to get on playing around with assassinations, mainly the later ones.
