In another topic i was wondering if it was possible to assassinate Uberto Alberti without having guards storm the place and see me. Well Asaic i found a solution ( or a bug). I killed every guard inside the yellow ring before i assassinated Uberto, and none chased after me. If you look at the minimap the red ring around it never shows up, although it is yellow.

You mean you killed all of the guards before beginning the mission. That's something I never thought of. I assumed the developers would be smart enough to spawn the appropriate guards at the mission start, not just re-use ones that are already there (or already dead, in this case). Silly me for making such an assumption. FLAE's eye roll

Nice find! However, you might want to do up the video showing you prep the area first, then begin the mission (and skip the cutscene) and then do that one archer and complete the mission anonymously. Skip the memory corridor sequence too. Smile

Well not exactly. I started the mission like usual, but you know how the next checkpoint is on the rooftop, where you see Uberto talking to Lorenzo? Instead of going there, i eliminated the guards. However the rooftop guards would sometimes respawn. I really cant be bothered starting the game again and making another video to show that as i have a few other ideas on my mind, this was mainly proof that it could be done so you can try it yourself

I'll pass on trying it for myself, but thanks for letting us know about it.

Maybe someone will step up and make an instructional video.

Wow. On my first try I didn't have to kill any guards. I just climbed up the walls and I became anonymous. I guess luck was on my side.

All three of you are right.

After Uberto's assassination, the game spawns two guards outside of the Santa Croce courtyard. They don't appear as red dots on the mini-map (a glitch) so I don't know exactly where they spawn but if you stand still each guard will enter through a different door. I assume they spawn near the two doors to help "cover the exits". If you stand and kill these two guards then two more will spawn outside and storm in. That's it though - four guards in total.

Let's say you don't pre-assassinate any guards. As soon as you climb up to the first inner roof (2:40 in the video above) the guards won't know what to do. They don't throw stones because you're standing upright and they don't have a path to follow you up there. Instead, they scramble around the courtyard and flood out through the two exits. It's a pathfinding problem. They're looking for a ladder or a way up the outside of the building but none exist. After several seconds the mini-map changes from yellow to white. The only guard who might see you there is the nearest archer on your left. Simply move a few paces to your right (East) and he will leave you alone.

Reacher pre-assassinated everybody so there were only the two guards who spawned outside the building. Do you know why there's no evidence of them in the video?

  • They never came inside because they were doing the pathfinding drill outside.
  • They don't appear as red dots on the mini-map because of the glitch mentioned above.
  • They don't appear on the big in-game map at 2:43 because guards never appear on that map.
  • The yellow SSI indicators don't appear because Reacher had SSI turned off in the HUD options!

Yes. Actually the problem is that they despawn during the pre-assassinating. Those that disappear and cannot be pre-assassinated will respawn during the mission.

I designed a route to pre-assassinate all of the guards and archers such that none will respawn. It's rather boring to watch, with sideways climbing from one set of archers to the other. I was going to make the video that Asaic requested (and Joey considered making himself) but decided that the result was insignificant. Pre-assassinating everyone doesn't actually prevent guards from chasing you. Climbing to the first roof does and it's a whole lot simpler.

You won't even feel the blade.

Wow, this thread brings me back. I actually spent a lot of time on this video now that I think about it, I also preassassinate everyone including the guards who patrol around the outside of the area without being seen, was fun to do but boring to watch. If your looking for a fun challenge try assassinate every guard in surgical strike without watching my video, it is quite hard.

I think challenges like this make these games worth playing, I keep thinking of going back to ACR but its just not the same. In all honesty, I just cant be bothered making AC videos anymore, maybe AC3 will be different.
