The Borgia Family: Castello Exploits Part 2

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJh7ivLNN2A
[Front-paged. stabguy]

Exploits at the Castello in sequence eight An Apple a Day memory. This video focuses on the Borgia (Rodrigo, Lucrezia, Cesare).

Not-so-dead Rodrigo
Rodrigo dies during the first scene of the memory, poisoned by an apple. Game mechanics say otherwise. Although he is lying on the ground you can target him with special attacks (indicated by a glowing red outline). You can also attempt to tackle him, and when you walk over him it has the option to steal on the HUD.

Killing Lucrezia
A way I accidentally found to kill Lucrezia, who is not supposed to die in the game yet due to being in The Davinci Disappearance dlc. After starting the memory leave the area. The floor in the room where Lucrezia and Rodrigo are in is no longer modeled in the game, causing them to fall through. I'm not sure exactly how far away you have to go, but I went over two hundred meters just to make sure. When you come back they are no longer there in the room. However they reappear for the scene. So does this change anything? Yes. Shortly afterward Lucrezia collapses. I believe this is a game mechanic of Brotherhood where a character is still dead after being reanimated. Also you can no longer target Rodrigo with special attacks or attempt to tackle, and there is no option to steal. So I technically killed Rodrigo as well.

Killing Cesare
Cesare appears a few times in this memory, but usually just for scenes. The one time he doesn't is when you see him running to get to the piece of eden. Normally you will have to perform a leap of faith to quickly reach the area where he is running and are unable to catch up to him, but by running off at an angle that will avoid the haystack and using a parachute you can get ahead of him. When the camera view moves to show Cesare running you still retain high profile and can move on the parachute as well as run or assassinate. Now for the big surprise... Cesare can be killed normally with attacks! I suppose the game developers didn't bother to make him invincible to attacks because you aren't supposed to be able to catch up to him, and he disappears shortly afterward. If you don't manage to get close enough to assassinate him with the hidden blade you can kill him by targeting with the throwing knives special attack (since you can't lock on). With that considered you might not even need the parachute to kill him, but it is easier that way. You would think that since he is dead there would no longer be a time limit, but no, when the timer runs out you fail the mission because Cesare "beat you to the apple". This is the fourth time Cesare can be killed before you fight him in sequence nine.

Il Colosseo Area Exploits

I decided to see if there is anything worth finding in this lair. Turns out there is due to the ridiculous amount of graspable surfaces that there are in the game. Laughing out loud

Area Exploit #1
Near the beginning of the place right after you open the gate climb to the ledge on the left part of the room. Move right to the arched window and jump back to another arch. Drop down and grab the ledge right above the doorway. Move down to reach the other side of the door and climb up to the arch. Jump to the right and grasp the ledge on the wall. Jump right again to grasp the window and climb up to the arch. Jump right again to land on a platform. Kick off the wall to land on the platform on the other side. Get to the end of the platform, run up the wall and jump to the left. You are now free to explore the rest of the place. One more thing to note is you can't use climb leap during the beginning of the memory, possibly to prevent something like this from happening.

Glitched Scene
After doing the area exploit get as far away as you can from the Romulus follower (he shows up as a target on the map/minimap). The farthest you can get is a little under two hundred meters, in the room near the end with all of those Romulus followers. When you come back the Romulus follower isn't there anymore. Shock Activating the scene without him gives the illusion of the chair throwing itself. Because the scene is glitched it cannot end.

Another Example
After doing the area exploit get in front of the Romulus follower and assassinate him (also works with melee weapons). The scene is still activated, but the Romulus follower isn't animated for the scene and is unaffected by it. In this case the scene won't end either, however you can choose to skip cinematic in the game menu.

San Pietro Exploits Continued

After the area exploit discovered by Vanitas I decided to go and check out the place for more exploits.

Catching up with the cardinal
During the chase the cardinal stops more than a few times to prevent desynchronization from being too far. He will start running again when you get to a certain point though. When you get to the place where there is a cutscene (the lantern breaking and Ezio falls) don't jump. Instead hang off the edge of the awning close to the wall, drop and grasp the ledge on the wall. Then move above the platform and drop onto it. From there go to the other side of the opposite wall and climb up it (just like when you do the area exploit). When you reach the cardinal he is still there waiting. To get him to run again hang off the awning by the wall. He still stops at few times and you have to go to certain places to get him to move again. At another place I get ahead of him. When you reach the lanterns to swing on run up a wall and grasp the beam the lantern is hanging on. This doesn't always work so I guess it has to be done just right. If you do this fast enough you will see a civilian spawn for a cutscene. I kill the civilian with a heavy weapon then target the cardinal with the throwing knives special attack which triggers the cutscene. In the scene the cardinal is outlined in red which shows he was targeted and the civilian has the heavy weapon in his head.

Kill him again
After you kill the cardinal the game moves him for a scene where Ezio takes his key. Although he appears to be dead you can't pick up his body. By using the heavy weapon special attack you kill him again and can pick up his body.

The cardinal over the railing without the alternative scene
If you throw the cardinal over the railing there is an alternative scene where Ezio grabs his key from him while he is falling. However if you perform a ledge assassination this doesn't happen. That is because he is dead before he falls over the railing.

This video doesn't show everything I've discovered, but it will have to do.

Assassin's Creed is too easy

Kotaku wrote:
The more toys Ezio gets, the further the imbalance is exacerbated—facing eight enemies, I've got my choice of shooting them, chain-killing them, picking them off one by one with counters, crossbowing them, throwing knives at them, overpowering them by hammering the attack button, or if I get bored, just dropping a smoke bomb and assassinating them one by one.

Good example of the lack of challenge with the "improvements".

A nice little trick I found in this video is to combine poison and the arrow storm. You can gather loads of guards into one spot and take them out all at once. You can also get on top of the aqueduct without needing to renovate that area by using the parachute.

Leonardo da Vinci's War Machine Fact And Fiction

In Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, we come across with many Leonardo's war machine. Here's some fact and fiction I dug up from the net.

Machine Gun

You know, this reminds me of Delta Force: Black Hawk Down, where you hop onto a Humvee and cut a path of carnage with the 50 caliber machine gun. In actually fact, Leonardo did invented the machine gun. However, it looks like this:

New Courtesan Glitch

Sorry no video, i would rather not record without sound.

Basically the glitch involves getting a group of courtesans and having them distract some guards. There are two ways of distracting guards, use all 4 by targeting a guard and pressing triangle, or simply walk up to the guard while the courtesans are with you and two of them will distract them. I used the second method, im not sure if the first one works.
